Open End

Does anyone have any suggestions for opening the closed end of an "open eye snap" to remove it?

The spring snap end of it is broken and I cannot get the closed end off. Prying is not helping. The snap is located on a feed bucket.

I would try to bend the round inner part of the snap in two (so it resembles a taco shell) with pliers or vice grips. Then, still holding that part with the pliers, try prying the outer button off.
