Design of Local Exhaust Systems for industrial cleaning air

Local exhaust ventilation systems are designed to capture substances chemicals in the air in the power generation and remove contaminants from the work area. When a local exhaust system makes the work of their workers are healthy and productive. Usually consists of:

- Shop windows to capture the contaminant

- The pipes for the transport of pollutants

- Air filter remove contaminants from the air stream

- Fan to create airflow in the system

- Battery for discharging the air outside the workplace.

To design a local exhaust system should know:

* The physical state of the chemical (Is it a powder, mist, smoke, gas or steam?)

* Chemical toxicity and exposure limits applicable

* Physical properties of the chemical (Vapor pressure point boiling point, flash point)

* Routes of exposure of workers - by inhalation, ingestion, skin contact,

* How, where and when the chemical is used,

* How the worker does his job.

HOOD DESIGN

A well-designed hood is the most important component of an effective Levs. The hood should be positioned so that it does not make the polluted air through the breathing zone of worker. It should be easy to use and does not interfere with the work that the worker is trying to do. What should be positioned as close to the point of generation of contaminants possible. The more it is from the point where the chemical is released into the air, the air flow is required to capture more contaminants.

Air volume and CAPTURE RATE

The volume of air (cfm) that must be exhausted cam is determined by the type of hood, the distance of the hood pollutant source and speed needed to capture the contaminant (capture rate). capture rate of a bell is determined by the properties of chemicals and how they are using. Local exhaust systems should always use round duct, because the air flow is more uniform and rational, which makes the system more efficient and provides better transport of pollutants. The duct runs should be as straight as possible, the curves should be smooth and gradual, and an elbow should have a radius of 2 to 2.5 times the diameter duct. Branch of the entries in the main duct should be at an angle of 45?, There should be 90? entries. All changes in the size should be smooth and gradual.

BATTERIES

A stack that discharges polluted air vertically upwards and away from the building. Batteries should be located as far from the units air intake as possible to prevent reintroduction of air pollution in the building. FAN SELECTION

The fan you select for your Levs should be based on system needs. Not only must deliver the volume of air (in cubic feet per minutes) necessary to capture the contaminant, but to be able to do so against the resistance to airflow in the system. The resistance to air flow is measured in inches of water and usually referred to as static pressure losses. Static pressure losses in the LOCAL EXHAUST SYSTEM is determined by:

- Size duct,

- Roughness of the duct material,

- Number and type of the elbows, entries, and changes in size,

- Type air filter,

- Type hood

- Volume of air flowing into the system,

- Design Console.

It should be clear in this list that a fan can not successfully be selected until the system has been designed.

SYSTEM INSTALLATION

Insist that you get a system installed as designed, with air flow ducts round and smooth streamlined. As losses of crude duct static pressure increases and requires a larger fan, you should maintain the use of a flexible tube, which is very rough, to a minimum. Use flexible conduit only when necessary flexibility and reduced use of it as possible.

Flanged pipe joint pose a safety

A fuel pipeline in a trench was under a road bridge in a factory. A flanges equipped with a compressed asbestos fiber (CAF) meeting, is only 2.5 m of the road.
